The Irish word Dúchas (pronounced Doo-Hass) is a word with deep meaning, translating to: 'birthright, heritage, native place or innate quality'. It's something we are born with. The Aran Sweater is an icon of Irish design and this newest style represents a luxurious, modern spin of Irishness.
Made in the material we know and love, the Dúchas Cashmere Aran Sweater is made from pure 100% 8 ply Cashmere. Duchas is knit sideways on a circular needle in one piece, cast on at one cuff and cast off at the finish of the second cuff. It gives this sweater a complete aesthetic of its own. This style features large honeycomb stitches, which brings to mind the bee and symbolises hard work, the cable symbolises the ropes used by the fishermen, the plaits recall similar designs that appear on stone high crosses, a remnant of Ireland’s Celtic past.
You can choose from a lower polo neck (as shown in charcoal) or a higher neck (shown in the fern colour). Just let us know in the order notes.
Each Madigan Aran sweater is made to order & handknit in Ireland and takes 6 weeks to complete.

One Size: Chest measures 137cm (54ins), length 58.5cm (23ins), high neck 10cm (4ins)
Processing Times
Since every Madigan Aran sweater is made to order and individually knitted by hand, you’ll notice that each element has a definition and fullness that simply can’t be found in mass-produced, machine-knitted sweaters.
Because of this very handmade process, each Madigan Aran sweater takes approx. 6 weeks to complete, but can vary based on our waitlist.
