We buy our cashmere from two of the most prestigious Italian and Scottish cashmere mills in the world.
Our cashmere collections are made in either two-ply cashmere, four-ply cashmere or with a cashmere-silk blend that has been specifically produced for Madigan.
We use a hand flat knitting technique which was popular in Ireland from about the 50s to the 80s. Many a school jumper was knit by mothers in their homes in this manner. Whoever would have thought we could create something so beautiful all these years later?
We have found these knitting machines in people’s attics, at car boot sales on Done Deal, Ebay and have reconditioned them to suit what we are doing and to put our own stamp on the process.
