The hand knitted Róisín Cashmere Aran Cardigan makes beautiful use of the traditional stitches & tells a story of success and good fortune.
Each of these stitches has a meaning associated with it - in the center and along the sleeves, you'll find the focus of this sweater is the Trellis stitch: representative of the fields of the Aran Islands, welcoming success into the wearer's life. It is bordered by the cable stitch, representing the ropes of the island fisherman and their hope for the day's catch-this welcomes luck. Next, the beautiful twisted cables, symbolise the combination of both health and happiness. The sleeves are completed with wide blocks of blackberry stitch, which represents the fruit of the brambles that grow thickly in the hedgerows of the Aran Islands and reminds us of the natural riches of Ireland’s countryside.

Processing Times
Since every Madigan Aran Sweater is made to order and individually knitted by hand, you’ll notice that each element has a definition and fullness that simply can’t be found in mass-produced, machine-knitted sweaters.
Because of this very handmade process, each Madigan Aran sweater takes approx. 6-8 weeks to complete, but can vary based on our waitlist.
