The Fionn Turtleneck Aran Cashmere Sweater is a stunning piece that puts a luxurious, contemporary spin on the authentic Aran Sweater-an icon of Irish design. Full of glorious traditional stitch detail, made with the finest quality 100% cashmere yarn and handmade in Ireland, it so sumptuous and cosy.
Every detail of the Fionn Turtleneck Aran Sweater tells a story: The central panel of the front and back features the diamond stitch, which represents aspirations of future wealth. This is bordered either side with honeycomb stitch, a motif that pays tribute to the hard-working honeybee. On the shoulders and sleeves, plaits stitches recall similar designs that appear on stone high crosses, a remnant of Ireland’s Celtic past.
The sleeves are completed with wide blocks of blackberry stitch, which represents the fruit of the brambles that grow thickly in the hedgerows of the Aran Islands and reminds us of the natural riches of Ireland’s countryside. Finally, the collar, cuffs and hems of the sweater are decorated with fine cable knit motifs, a symbol of the ropes used by the islands’ fishermen in their daily work.

Made to Order: Since every Madigan Aran Sweater is made to order and individually knitted by hand, you’ll notice that each element has a definition and fullness that simply can’t be found in mass-produced, machine-knitted sweaters.
Because of this very handmade process, each Madigan Aran sweater takes approx. 6-8 weeks to complete, but can vary based on our waitlist. We promise they will be worth the wait..
